Dunbar Family Scholarship
The Dunbar Family Scholarship will be awarded to student(s) who demonstrate a commitment to education, personal growth, and community involvement. This scholarship will support descendants of Benjamin and Henrietta Dunbar, who are pursuing an undergraduate degree of higher education or vocational school. The scholarship will be awarded to a deserving recipient in the amount of $500.
Dunbar Family Scholarship Eligibility Requirements:
1) Family heritage must be shown as a descendant of Benjamin and Henrietta Dunbar through a parent.
2) Educational status- Applicant must be: A graduating high school senior, or a current student at a community college, four-year university, or a vocational/trade school.
3) Academic Requirements: Applicant must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.
4) School Enrollment: Applicant must provide proof of attendance or acceptance to an accredited college, university or trade/vocational school.
Application Requirements:
Applicants must submit the following:
1) Essay (300 words or more) on one of the following topics:

Why I feel a college education is important
-
Why I chose my field of study
-
What kind of legacy I would like to leave behind
2) Church and Community Involvement: A short statement detailing the applicant’s involvement in church activities, volunteer work, leadership roles, and community service.
3) Official Transcript: A current high school or college transcript showing a minimum 2.5 GPA.
4) Proof of Enrollment: Letter of acceptance from an accredited institution or current class schedule from an accredited institution.

The Dunbar Family Scholarship Committee: The Dunbar Family Scholarship honors the legacy of
education, hard work, and community service. We encourage all eligible students to apply and
continue the tradition of excellence within the Dunbar family. While we encourage all to attend
award recipients are not required to attend.
